Food Trucks! A fun addition to your wedding or event in Seattle/Tacoma

I grew up in southern California and food trucks were a usual sight on the streets in the morning and during lunch. If you haven’t noticed that food trucks have come to Seattle, and everywhere else for that matter, you are definitely missing out. The food trucks of today are not the food trucks that I remember. From simple menus that include a hodgepodge of items to gourmet menus that specialize in vegan, all organic foods made with local ingredients, there is a truck for every craving or situation. Food trucks are a great way to incorporate a menagerie of meaning. You can pay homage to your heritage by serving appetizers instead of passed hors d’oeuvre if the venue permits, or end the evening with a desert food truck, a truck serving sliders and milkshakes or anything your hear desires. The choices are limitless and I had the opportunity to ask two of my favorite food trucks about catering to special events throughout the area.
Derrick Ellis from Lumpia World took time out of his busy schedule to share his thoughts on food trucks for events/weddings. “Food Trucks are AMAZING for Weddings, because it adds a new dimension to the reception. I remember seeing a photo of the Skillet Food Truck that catered a wedding. I thought to myself; wow what a very neat idea. At that point, we decided that we wanted to offer the same service. Presently, there are on average about 1-2 emails I see coming from Roaming Hunger that want Food Trucks at their wedding. Washington is such a beautiful place. When the weather is nice, IT IS NICE!!! So having a Food Truck onsite provides a wonderful outdoor food experience that plays right into the outdoor or even indoor reception. It’s a wonderful way to get out of the normal structure of a reception ceremony. The guests absolutely love it!!!!! We receive great feedback regarding our food, service, and fun staff.”

Diane Skwiercz from Sweet Treats, Home to the Original and Only “Build your Own Ice Cream Sandwich” and other amazing deserts including made from scratch ice cream that is out of this world. When asked about her thoughts on of catering special events/weddings, this is what she had to say. “Yes, people love our services and treats.  Our most popular item at any event is build your own ice cream cookie sandwich.  It’s interactive, fun and unique!  Plus, everything we make is made from scratch. I think my most memorable moments are when guests have no clue and they are expecting cake.  So pretty much every wedding!”

It sounds to me that our amazing food truck owners and operators have just as much fun providing out-of-the-box custom food to events/weddings as much as the guests do at partaking in the delicious concoctions that are handed out at said events.

Muse Event Planning and Production thanks Diane from Sweet Treats and Derrick Ellis from Lumpia World for their input for this posting and you can find them by their links above or on the  Seattle Food Truck  website.

Brooch Bouquets; it represents the journey your family has made, and the journey you are beginning that day

Amanda Jane Vintage Brooch Bouquet5 1024x404 Brooch Bouquets; it represents the journey your family has made, and the journey you are beginning that day

This is a gorgeous design in a wedding in which this is the brides bouquet and the bridesmaids carry brightly colored, or white with bright color accents

There are so many things to think about when planning your wedding; the venue, the dress, color concepts, cake(s), caterers, photographers, live music/DJ/or both, hair and makeup and of course the flowers. Some people chose to use a large portion of their budget on flowers and some do not. Its is all a personal choice, but one thing I will be enthusiastically telling every one of them about Amanda Heer and  her amazing and breathtaking Vintage Brooch Bouquets™ by Amanda Jane, of which she is the original creator of thes most stunning bouquets I have ever seen. It is not just the beauty and dazzling sparkle they emit, but what they represent and how you decide what that is. Not only are these bouquets one-of-a-kind pieces of art, they can represent or be anything you envision. She will need 50-60 pieces for your bouquet and if you don’t have a family with brooch’s to donate you can purchase them yourself. I myself went on Ebay before writing this post and found so many great pieces that I had to stop downloading the pictures as I could have gone on all night. Let me tell you this, not one of the pictures below of the brooches is over $9.00 and the lowest price is $.99 so this is something that can be done on a budget. You can search for things you love, things that remind you of each other, your families and even your hobbies. You will see in one of Amanda Jane’s brooches that one bride had the initial of her new last name as the centerpiece of her bouquet. These creations are so gorgeous that they can become the centerpieces on your head table or incorporated into the fresh flower centerpieces at your reception.  Amanda creates these bouquets for only $375.00 with you supplying the brooches and other items that you want on your bouquet. This price is unbelievable considering most people will spend more than that on a bouquet made from fresh flowers that you will only have for that one day. .  I had the opportunity to be in contact with Amanda this weekend and asked her about her company, how it all began and what making these means to here. The following are a few excerpts from that letter followed by pictures that she sent me of some of her hand-made treasures that can be handed down generation to generation, with each one adding their own special pieces. I plan on renewing my vows on my tenth anniversary and I will definitely be carrying on of Amanda’s Vintage Brooch Bouquets

Amanda on how she got started designing brooch bouquets - “I created the first brooch bouquet for my own wedding 10 years ago and it is still in perfect condition today. I was lucky enough to hand mine down to Cameron (my daughter) for her wedding in Dec 09″

Amanda on what makes her bouquets so wonderful – “

What makes these bouquets so wonderful is that they are made from family treasures and jewelry. Anything can be used that has special meaning to the Bride and her family, consider this the bride’s life in her bouquet. They are very emotional everlasting                                                                       works of art, and are so much more in person and so very exciting just to hold your very own. 50 to 60 Pieces will be needed, Such as wine corks/earrings/military pins/boy scout badges/moms vintage wedding dress buttons or lace/little / vintage watch turned to the brides wedding time/brooches/bracelets/old strands of pearls/rings/Locket/scrabble pieces.”

Amanda on how much her business has taken off – “They have been ordered from and shipped all over the world.  As far as Dubai, Ireland, London, Italy, Brazil, New Zealand, Australia, Holland, Canada, and all over the United States. My brooch bouquets have been featured on Daily Candy, Blogs, magazines world-wide, We TV, and Channel 7 eye witness news”
